   We plot the public BLM MLRS “not closed” GIS. Geometry is a PLSS approximation, not a surveyed corner. It is not current legal status. Claims drop and get staked again. Closed claims are not shown as open ground — and a blank pixel is not open either.

   open MLRS the morning you go

   Go to mlrs.blm.gov. Search the serial. Confirm the disposition is still Active / not closed. Claims drop and get staked again.

   minerals belong to the claimant

   On an active claim, locatable minerals are not yours. Walking across may be legal on public surface. Taking gold is not.
